11/16/2023 0 Comments Boy soilder kite runner bookThe entire movie is well placed save the last bit. ![]() The entire act is so touching that it cannot but wet your eyes. Especially the boy who played the innocent but loyal Hassan, a boy, who refuses to give up a kite he caught because he promised his best friend that he would bring it to him, only to be abused by large bullies who beat him up and use him sexually, and then to be rebuked by his best friend as a coward. The two young actors were brilliant, absolutely superb. but I know you won't ask me to." Such a touching line, is bound to capture the hearts of many. Especially in the very first scene, when young Hassan says, "If you tell me to eat dirt, I will. The magic woven by Khaled Hosseini, to give us a sense of remorse of joy, of sadness, of pain, of loyalty is astute in this adaptation. It has captured the minds and imagination of millions all across the globe. Things do appear a tad fast in the final twenty odd minutes, but apart from that it has succeeded what the book did. I mean for a two hour movie it's got the deserved response. Firstly, let me say it, that even though in my opinion the book was better than the final product of the movie, it is by no means a bad adaptation. So my judgment and views may be slightly biased. I must say before I even start that I had read the book before I saw the advanced screening of "The Kite Runner". Khaled Hosseini's book adaptation had already captured many minds, in fact it is rumored that he himself broke down in to tears after watching the premier. Those are the four adjectives that prop up in my head when I start describing "The Kite Runner". The message behind the very ending could be interpreted differently by different readers, but personally I feel that it offers a small sense of hope for both the future of its characters, and perhaps for war-torn Afghanistan as well.Amazing, Astounding, Brilliant, Superb. The final chapter of the book is perhaps my favourite, and one that I have found moving even when rereading it. ![]() Without giving away the ending, Amir ends up back in Afghanistan and makes a very different set of sacrifices in order to set things straight. Amir himself becomes a writer, and he reflects on his experiences in the story as though his life itself were a piece of fiction (which of course it is!).īut I think the best bit about the kite runner is its sense of fate and justice, of good overcoming evil in the end, despite all odds. Hosseini's writing finds a great balance between being clear and yet powerful, and not only is the story itself brilliantly constructed, but the book also explores the very art of storytelling. The story is fast-paced and hardly ever dull, and introduced me to a world – the world of Afghan life – which is strange, fascinating and yet oddly familiar all at the same time. Amir and his father are forced to flee Afghanistan for America, and The Kite Runner becomes the story of Amir's quest for redemption – righting the wrongs he committed all those years ago as a boy in Kabul. In war, people are often forced to make great sacrifices, and the young Amir himself commits an act of betrayal, towards his best friend Hassan no less, which will haunt him for the rest of his life.
